3rd International Symposium on Riverine Landscapes
Global change and river-floodplain ecosystems
Scientists and research students are invited to the 3rd International Symposium on Riverine Landscapes (TISORL) to discuss the implications of global-scale changes for river-floodplain ecosystems and to identify future research directions. Invited presentations will consider the effects of urbanisation and landuse change, water resource development, and climate change on river-floodplain ecosystems. Several concurrent workshops on science needs are planned and will focus on aquatic biodiversity, connectivity and river-floodplain-coastal subsidies, flow-ecology relationships, and indicators and assessment.
The Symposium venue is the beautiful Couran Cove Island Resort on Stradbroke Island, situated near the mouth of the Coomera River in the heart of Australia's fastest growing region. Post-symposium excursions include visits to World Heritage areas on the Gold Coast hinterland. The Symposium runs from Monday August 27 to Saturday September 1 2007. This is the week prior to the 10th International Riversymposium and 2nd International E-Flows Conference to be held jointly in Brisbane.
The local organizing committee is the Australian Rivers Institute, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia.
