Call for Contributions

Contributions Open: 2 January 2007
Contributions Close: Monday 30 April, 2007

Abstracts submitted after Monday 30 April, 2007 will not be included in the published program.

The program’s overall theme of ‘TECH SMARTER: DOING IT BETTER, DOING IT DIFFERENT' will draw upon the knowledge, experiences and practices of technical staff from a wide variety of teaching, research and administrative fields including; health, science, engineering, education, arts & visual media, mechanical and electronic workshop manufacturing, field operations, instrumentation, information technology, occupational health and safety, animal facilities, management and career development.

During a time of rapid change, technical staff are continually challenged to maintain high quality support with fewer resources. Technical staff have responded to these pressures through adaptation, innovative design, improvisation and being 'smarter' about the way they do their jobs....doing it better by doing it different. This journey has meant changes with many outstanding results that are advantageous, resource saving and best practice.

The Organising Committee of TechNet 2007 invites contributions for consideration in the TechNet 2007 program. Delegates are invited to submit abstracts using any of the following four suggested discipline streams:

Stream 1: Technology and Innovation

Have you developed a new technology, equipment item or innovative work process? Here is your chance to communicate efficiency saving, cutting edge or just plain commonsense applications to colleagues in other institutions and industry.

Stream 2: Workforce

Staff are our most important asset. Cross skilling, professional development, work/life balance, technology induced redundancy and role adaptability are just a few of the issues facing staff. What are the key issues directly affecting your staff and what are your solutions?

Stream 3: Workplace Occupational Health and Safety

Our workplaces are often high risk work environments which require us to be proactive, vigilant and engaging. Highlight developing OH&S issues, showcase latest improvement strategies, brainstorm solutions in a workshop with like minded professionals!

Stream 4: Organisational Sustainability

Organisation's are changing rapidly and are affected by national and international sociological and environmental pressures. Organisational sustainability is enhanced with effective use of available physical resources, a robust and flexible workforce, consideration of environmental impacts, and remaining relevant to your clients. What are you doing to ensure your organisations survival?
