In 2005 and again in 2007, the Griffith Business School hosted the very well received Strata and Community Title in Australia for the 21st Century conferences. These conferences were directed to all stakeholders involved in the strata and community title sector. In 2007, in the morning prior to the conference, the University hosted the inaugural Into The Future: Strata and Community Title Owners? Forum. The agenda for this event was directed by owner representatives and targeted to owners of strata titled properties. The forum attracted 82 delegates.
The second Into The Future: Strata and Community Title Owners? Forum is to be held in a similar manner 9am? 12pm on 2 September 2009 as a prelude to the Strata and Community Title in Australia for the 21st Century III conference. The owners? forum is designed to enable strata title owners? perspectives on issues to be aired and discussed. The timing of this forum is deliberate as it allows owners' issues raised at the forum to inform subsequent debate and discussion occurring at the ensuing conference. The forum?s organising committee has focused on keeping costs low in order to facilitate unit owner attendance. Consistent with the 2007 forum, the fee is $60.
The objective of the forum is to inform and update unit owners about issues surrounding key challenges confronting owners of strata titled properties and create a platform to stimulate research and instigate solutions. The forum?s program has been formulated in a spirit of facilitating information dissemination and also laying the basis for constructive debate and discussion. I encourage attendance by all who seek to enrich their understanding and inform discussion relating to the challenges that can arise in connection with strata title property ownership.
