Strata and Community Title in Australia for the 21st Century II

A second independent cross-industry meeting of key strata title stakeholders:
strengthening partnerships through debate and research in pursuit of industry advancement

Griffith University's Centre for Tourism, Sport and Service Innovation hosted its second biennial Strata and Community Title in Australia for the 21st Century II conference on 22-24 August 2007 at the Gold Coast. The event was hosted under the Centre's earlier title, the Service Industry Research Centre.

The conference was attended by 260 delegates - a 50 per cent increase on attendance levels of the 2005 conference - and was opened by the Honourable Margaret Keech MP (Minister for Tourism, Fair Trading, Wine Industry Development and Women, Queensland Government).

This independent, cross-industry conference of key strata and community title stakeholders is directed towards stimulating debate and research that supports development of the sector, and strengthens stakeholders' partnerships. The specific aims of the 2007 conference were to:

• draw out management and infrastructure issues confronting the sector
• update delegates on evolving markets, the sector's development, new strata title applications, trends and direction
• highlight stakeholder conflicts, synergies and common interests to enhance moves towards determining industry best practice
• highlight distinct frameworks that can be applied in legislating for the sector
• examine the merits of different organisational forms used in the delivery of resident manager services
• examine challenges ahead for developers of strata title properties.

The next Strata and Community Title in Australia for the 21st Century conference will take place in 2009.
