ABOUT THE GOLD COAST

The City of the Gold Coast, boasts 42 kilometers of golden, unpolluted beaches stretching from Southport in the north to Coolangatta in the south, with a lush subtropical back-drop in the Gold Coast hinterland. This beautiful scenery combination is often described "the green behind the gold". Surfers Paradise with its towering skyline and beachfront esplanade forms the hub of the city.

By contrast the Gold Coast hinterland is a subtropical hideaway with seven national parks complete with massive trees, spectacular views, cascading waterfalls and bush walks. Situated only an hour's drive from Brisbane, Queensland's State capital, this international city offers a multitude of man-made and natural attractions and superb surfing beaches. With almost 300 days of sunshine each year and an average winter maximum of 20 C and average summer maximum of 28 C - the region is Australia's holiday mecca.

The Gold Coast is the fastest-growing city in Australia. For international delegates arriving at Brisbane Airport, regular and frequent coach services are available to the conference venue. Those entering Australia via other international airports can take domestic air travel to the Gold Coast's Coolangatta Airport, from where taxi and coach services are available at all hours.
