The Council for Australian University Tourism and Hospitality Education gathered together researchers, educators, industry and government stakeholders in the tourism, travel, hospitality, events, recreation, sport and leisure industries during the CAUTHE 2008 Conference.
The Conference took place from 11 to 14 February 2008 at the Gold Coast International Hotel, Gold Coast, Australia.
Where the bloody hell are we?
Hosted by the Griffith Business School's Department of Tourism, Leisure, Hotel and Sport Management, CAUTHE 2008 took stock of where Australian tourism and hospitality education sits in terms of research, teaching and practice.
This national forum aimed to engage participants in reflexive practices, and provided an intellectual challenge. Over the years, the number of international participants has grown steadily - so although the Conference is badged as a 'national' conference, its drawing power is now also internationally based.
The Conference offered opportunities for delegates and Australian and international experts to participate in:
- Focussed plenary and panel sessions
- Presentation and publication of both refereed and working papers
- Special interest group roundtables, workshops and debates
- A fun, entertaining, 'Very GC' atmosphere
