Aim:

  • To promote, practice and teach the art of Aikido.

The Aikido club is now over 27 years old and offers a variety of classes at both the Nathan campus and Everton Hills. Classes include:

Griffith Moorooka Australian Football Club (GMAFC)

Aims:

  • To encourage and promote the playing of Australian Rules Football in the Moorook and district area as well as on and surrounding the Griffith University Nathan campus.
  • To offer social and other sporting outlets to member

Aims:

  • To promote the game and sport of badminton
  • To allow University members to meet and socialise with others whom they are unlikely to come into contact with through academic life
  • Participate in external badminton tournaments

Aims:

  • To create a fun, friendly environment for players to play baseball
  • To cater for all skill levels and backgrounds
  • To meet and get to know new people
  • To learn and improve baseball skills
  • The club holds weekly training session on Saturday mornings and holds regular games against baseball teams from other clubs or universities.

Griffith University Bushwalking Society (GRUBS)

Aims:

  • Grubs is an outdoor enthusiasts club where friends getting together and exploring the outdoors. 
  • It is about having adventures with great people, having access to equipment that students can’t usually afford, meeting new people, forming lasting friendships and exploring personal limits under safe conditions.
  • Club activities include:
    • Rock Climbing
    • Bushwalking and Hiking
    • Sailing
    • Canyoning
    • Kayaking (sea and whitewater)

Griffith University Cricket Club

Aims:

  • To play competitive cricket in an organised competition.
  • The Cricket Club competes in both summer and winter seasons.  Matches are primarily played on Saturday afternoons.

Griffith University Karate and Kickboxing Club

Aims:

  • To provide an opportunity for members to learn a martial art.
  • To provide instruction in correct fitness exercises for general health and wellbeing.
  • To endeavour to teach members self defence principles in an effort to increase community safety.
Training sessions are held on Monday and Wednesdays on the Nathan campus.  Social activities, seminars / workshops and fundraising / promotions activities are held throughout the year.

Aim:

  • To provide the students of Griffith University Logan campus with the opportunity to participate in a competitive Rugby League competition.

Griffith University Rugby League Club (Griffith Dragons)

Aim:

  • To provide Griffith University students with the opportunity to play Rugby League against other universities in South-East Queensland.
The Griffith Dragons home ground is located on the Nathan campus.  Training sessions are held on Monday nights and games are played on Wednesday nights.

Griffith University Tigers Handball Club

Aims:

  • Provide the opportunity for all interested people to play and enjoy the fantastic fast paced game of Handball;
  • Introduce more people to the game and teach more people how to play the game of Handball;
  • Explain and demonstrate skill transfer from other sports and how easy it is to join in a game and be part of the action after being shown the basics of the sport.
  • Encourage new members to become part of the club and make them welcome.
