Below is an outline of the professional recognition and/or career opportunities available for each specialisation:
Financial Planning
The Financial Planning Association of Australia recognises graduates of this specialisation as eligible for admission into the Certified Financial Planner Program. In addition, students who undertake and successfully complete a specific menu of courses within this specialisation will be PS 146 compliant (visit the Australian Securities and Investments Commission website for the full list of courses).
Graduates achieve an advanced understanding of financial planning tools and practices for advising on personal finance, superannuation, retirement and estate planning.
General Management
This specialisation allows students to advance their management knowledge and competencies in areas that are specifically relevant to them. Students will be equipped with the skills to confidently manage a department, division or organisation.
Human Resource Management
This specialisation is designed to increase the competency of managers to evaluate and utilise contemporary human resource knowledge and professional skills enabling them to specialise in human resources or work closely with human resource specialists in a broader role in the organisation.
Information Systems
This specialisation advances industry professionals’ knowledge and skills in key areas of knowledge management, risk management, IT strategy, governance and service management, project and change management, and enterprise systems integration. These core competencies ensure competitiveness in the modern global business environment. It also ensures a broad management focused perspective on current and emerging information and communication technologies, and advanced knowledge and skills.
International Business
Griffith has a long history as the leader in international business, having offered the first program of its kind in Australia. On completion of this specialisation business professionals will be able to lead firms and governments in international trade and investment activities.
Marketing Management
The Marketing Management specialisation will increase the competency of managers to utilise and evaluate the appropriateness of advice of experts in marketing departments, marketing consultants, advertising agencies and media representatives. It provides additional insight that enables them to interact in a cross-disciplinary role, while building internal and external relationships and influencing resource allocation within the organisation.
Public Sector Management
This specialisation enables students to develop advanced professional competence in their own field(s) of interest and to relate this to the broader strategic managerial processes and the governmental context. Students are employed as policy advisers and departmental managers throughout federal, state and local government; as procurement specialists; in industry organisations and lobby groups; in non-government organisations; and increasingly as consultants and contractors with government employed by the private sector.
