Bachelor of Arts (International Relations)

The Bachelor of Arts (International Relations) is offered at our Gold Coast and Nathan campuses. It takes 3 years full-time or 6 years part-time to complete.

  • The OP cut-off is 16 (Rank 65) and the only prerequisite is English (4 SA)

Program structure

If you want to know more about global affairs and Australia's place in the world, then this program will enable you to develop a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the practice and theory of contemporary international relations.

The program covers the nature and character of the modern international system, the issues on the policy agendas of the international community, and the factors and forces that shape contemporary international affairs.

You'll better understand why countries make certain economic or political decisions and how they affect others, the need for global security and the politics which shape the future of our neighbours.

Year 1

You will receive an introduction to international relations, globalisation, economics, cultures and civilisations, communication skills, and optional introductory language studies.

Years 2 and 3

You will complete courses for the International Relations major and supplement your studies with a choice of:

  • an overseas internship or exchange
  • an additional area of specialised study, or minor
  • specialisations offered from other areas of the University
