Mentoring

The aim of the Mentoring Scheme is to assist teams to build a solid, realistic business plan with a view to possible further development or commercialisation of the concept. Mentors are usually professionals and friends of the University, who are donating their time to the Griffith Innovation Challenge. These volunteers have experience writing business plans and / or running or building new enterprises.

The following guidelines have been developed to provide an overview of the mentoring process, and to assist mentors and teams to manage their relationship more effectively.

Mentoring Scheme Guidelines

  1. Mentors have agreed to provide their time, over an 10-week period to assist a team in the preparation of their business plan. Specific time-frames will vary according to mentors' availability and team requirements.
  2. Confidentiality of team information is essential to the success of the competition, and mentors have agreed to keep this information confidential.
  3. The Mentoring Scheme will begin in the week according to the schedule, and proceeds until business plans are submitted.
  4. Members of the Organising Committee are eligible to be mentors, however a member must declare a conflict of interest and absent him- or herself from any decision-making of the Organising Committee, with respect to the team the member is mentoring.
  5. Any difficulties arising from mentor / team relationship will be resolved by the Organising Committee.
