Griffith Innovation Challenge
The Griffith Innovation Challenge is a university-wide business plan competition, which encourages teams of students from different disciplines to
- work on new ideas and to foster innovation
- develop new entrepreneurs
- create new opportunities and businesses for the benefit of Queensland and Australia
Put your skills/business ideas to the test for a chance to win a share of $40,000 in cash and prizes.
Work in a team of up to five students to create a business plan for your own company. Students can team up from different disciplines and any second, third or forth year, or postgraduate students can enter.
Entry is free and gives you access to an industry mentor and a range of workshops to help make the most of this opportunity.
Business plans may be commercially focussed (for profit) or community oriented (not-for-profit) and may form part of assessment, work experience, internships, placements, scholarships - or they may just be a good idea.
The Challenge involves you in the development of a range of professional skills including
- teamwork
- leadership
- project management
- commercial assessment and awareness
- networking and building partnerships
- marketing and promotion
Leonardo da Vinci's amazing 'aerial screw' drawings inspired the core vision of the Griffith Innovation Challenge. His drawings (dated 1483 - 1486) are believed to have led to the development of today's helicopter!
A model of these drawings (known as 'Elicopter') was donated to Griffith in 1988 on behalf of the Italian Government, and now hangs in the Macrossan building at Nathan campus.
