Outstanding Alumnus Award Program
The Griffith Business School Alumni Network Outstanding Alumnus Award Program aims to recognise the remarkable achievements and successes of our alumni. The recipients of the Awards will be honoured at our annual dinner and award night.
Nomination guidelines
Nominations can be made by members of the Griffith Business School Alumni Network or the wider community, such as:
- A graduate of the Griffith Business School or its predecessors
- A member of Griffith Business School staff
- A member of Griffith University (staff or student)
- An employer of a Griffith Business School alumnus
- A member of the community
To nominate an alumnus complete our Nomination Form (PDF 309k) by Friday, 1 August 2008.
Selection criteria
For a Griffith Business School alumnus to be eligible for the Award, the nominator will need to provide evidence of:
- Exceptional success in area of chosen industry / profession and outstanding contribution to that industry/profession; and / or:
- Outstanding contribution to the community at the local, state, national or international levels. This may be as part of employment in their chosen profession or may be voluntary or charity work.
All Australian and overseas alumni of Griffith Business School are eligible for this award, and need not be working in the discipline from which they graduated.
For the Young Outstanding Alumnus Award nominees must be under 35 years old.
In order to best assist the Judging Panel, nominators will be asked to provide written statements of support addressing the selection criteria - as well as providing the nominee's most recent CV and other relevant supporting documents and information (e.g. newspaper articles, awards etc).
Selection process
Once the closing date for nominations has passed, nominees will be assessed initially by the members of the Griffith Business School Alumni Network Advisory Group. This Group will select three Nominees for each award for submission to the Judging Panel. The Judging Panel will then select the winners.

Judging
The Judging Panel will assess nominations and meet mid-September to select the Award's recipient. The Panel will consist of:
- The Pro Vice Chancellor (Business) of Griffith University or his nominee
- A representative of the Griffith University Development and Alumni Office
- Two representatives of the Griffith Business School Alumni Advisory Group
- A representative of the Griffith Business School Advisory Council
Presentation of the Award
The Awards will be presented at our annual alumni dinner (in October) each year.
The Honourable Judy Spence took out the crown as the inaugural Griffith Business School Outstanding Alumnus. The award was announced at our Alumni Network dinner in Brisbane last year, held at the Stamford Hotel.
