Political and Economic Change Program

Globalisation and economic change are obvious in the cities of China with new developments surrounding the landscape

The Political and Economic Change Program is crucially important to the analysis of internationalisation as theory and process. Our program draws its relevance from the fact that globalisation brings a raft of fundamental institutional challenges to the Asia Pacific.

Amongst them are such issues as the development of systems of proper corporate governance and democracy; assessing the putative effects economic globalisation in wealth enhancement and its alleged promotion of accelerating global inequalities; the development of different kinds of regional architecture to allow for more balanced and rewarding engagement with the world economy (e.g. free trade agreements) and sustainable growth.
