Asia-Pacific Writing Partnership

The Asia-Pacific Writing Partnership (APWP) is an international collaboration of universities, literary organizations and individuals interested in new writing from and about Asia and the Pacific, either in the way of promoting writers from the region, conducting research in areas that benefits writing from Asia and the Pacific, or to help nurture excellence in new writing.

The Partnership, which incudes writers, scholars and industry partners in the region’s diverse cultures, explores notions of writing, identity and creative practice through a study of Asia-Pacific literature. Through this engagement, the Partnership offers ways to share information about writers and writing, both in the region’s languages and in literary translation. It supports diversity of cultural expression and literature that crosses borders. It also champions the notion that literature enhances understanding between cultures and will establish forums and conferences to assist this dialogue.

The APWP, launched in Bali at the Ubud Writers Festival in September 2007, is housed at the Griffith Asia Institute and was seed-funded by Griffith University. The Partnership welcomes members. For more information about members and the Charter, go to www.apwriters.com
