Economics

Economists play a major role in how a country operates.

As an economist within the federal government, you might advise on monetary policy, or how imports will affect a sector of Australia’s primary and secondary industries. Economists within the public sector also help determine policies that govern taxation, social security and welfare systems. They also monitor the performance of various markets, whether that is shares listed on the stock exchange or the sales of manufactured products.

In private enterprise, economists help corporations determine their market position and prospects. Economists are in demand as financial analysis with banks and financial institutions, as stockbrokers, currency dealers and advisers in corporate mergers and takeovers.
