Gold Coast Tourism Visioning Project
The Strata Titled Tourism Accommodation research agenda began in 2000, as part of the Gold Coast Tourism Visioning Project. This project was a study commissioned by the Gold Coast City Council and the Collaborative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism, which resulted in the production of the Gold Coast Tourist Facilities and Infrastructure Audit report, followed by two presentations to key Council planning officials and local industry experts.
The findings from this work hallmarked the need for changes to the Council's planning scheme - which were later introduced to promote the rejuvenation and re-development of the hub of the Gold Coast and Australia's premier tourist destination - Surfers Paradise.
