International relations

If you want to know more about global affairs and Australia's place in the world, then this program will enable you to develop a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the practice and theory of contemporary international relations. The program covers the nature and character of the modern international system, the issues on the policy agendas of the international community, and the factors and forces that shape contemporary international affairs. You will learn why countries make certain economic or political decisions and how they affect others, the need for global security and the politics which shape the future of our neighbours.

Policy analysis

This graduate certificate program is designed to equip senior policy officers to respond to the increasingly complex challenges involved in policy analysis, design and implementation in the 21st century. This program will fill a significant gap in provision of skill-based policy training by the tertiary sector in Queensland and contributes to meeting the demanding agenda of up-skilling the public sector workforce. The delivery of this program is designed to meet the needs of working policy officers and their employers.

Politics and government

Interested in a career in politics? Or maybe you have keen interest in public policy? Either way, this course will equip you with the skills needed to help you achieve your goals. You will gain a clear understanding of the nature of politics and what governments do in the local, state, national and international contexts from some of the best political scientists and policy practitioners in Australia. Our innovative and stimulating program reflects the national and international reputation of Griffith University's School of Government and International Relations. It concludes with practical courses on policy making and a specialist off-campus internship where you will complete a policy project in a workplace of your choice. You will graduate as a highly-skilled student of politics and ready to take advantage of the myriad of opportunities available in the public sector locally, nationally or internationally.

Public sector management

Our public administration programs promote the study of public sector administrative and managerial processes, problems and disciplines at an advanced level. The flexibility enables students to develop advanced professional competence in their own fields of interest and to relate this to the broader strategic managerial processes and the contexts in which they take place. Graduates will be familiar with public sector disciplines, have demonstrated research capacity and high-level analytic and policy skills.
