Political Science and international relations at Griffith is ranked second in the country according to the 2011 Excellence in Research Australia assessment. Our 40 staff in political science and international relations, and public policy are concentrated in two research centres,
and two teaching departments,The Asian, Security and Development research program is jointly hosted by the two research centres to further strengthen Griffith's research profile in politics and Asia, with particular reference to rising powers, new modes of regional governance, and emerging security challenges and responses.
"The 2011 Excellence in Research Australia assessment has judged Griffith's research profile in political science, international relations and public policy second only to Australian National University. This confirms the verdict of an external review which in 2010 noted 'In research terms.... Griffith University is second only to the Australian National University among Australian universities in the field of political science.'"
