Academy of Business in Society
The Academy of Business in Society (EABIS) is a unique alliance of companies, business schools and academic institutions committed to integrating business in society issues into the heart of management theory and practice. Griffith Business School joined EABIS in 2009. In 2008, Professor McIntosh, director of APCSE, was highly commended as a faculty pioneer by EABIS and the Aspen Institute.
Business South Bank
Business South Bank (BSB) is the peak association acting on behalf of a diverse range of organisations operating in the South Bank business precinct, Brisbane. It has challenged itself to become Australia’s most sustainable business precinct. To assist in reaching this goal, BSB established a Sustainability Sub-committee, on which Brett Sharman from APCSE is a member. Griffith University was a founding member of BSB.
Canadian Business Ethics Research Network
The Canadian Business Ethics Research Network (CBERN) aims to promote knowledge-sharing and partnerships within the field of business ethics and across private, governmental, voluntary and academic sectors. CBERN also aims to support work from inception to dissemination, from graduate student research and fellowship opportunities to promoting the projects of established professionals. Professor McIntosh, director of APCSE, was a founding member of CBERN.
Centre for Environment and Population Health
The Centre for Environment and Population Health (CEPH) assists international developing communities to address concerns around rapid economic growth and its impacts on population health, environmental sustainability and economic opportunity through developing research competence, strategic planning, leadership and relevant professional skills. We work collaboratively with CEPH, sharing our individual expertise and seeking out collaborative research opportunities, to build knowledge that meets the complex economic, social and environmental risks we face today.
The Earth Charter Initiative
The Earth Charter Initiative is a diverse, global network of people, organisations and institutions that participate in promoting and implementing the values and principles of the Earth Charter, a declaration of fundamental ethical principles for building a just, sustainable and peaceful global society in the 21st century. We endorse the Earth Charter and actively work to promote its values and principles through our research, teaching and engagement activities.
Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative
The Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) aims to promote understanding of globally responsible leadership and to develop its practice. Griffith Business School is a member of the GRLI. Professor McIntosh, director of APCSE, is currently working on a major publishing project with the GRLI on leadership and governance for the common good. Professor McIntosh and Professor Powell, Pro Vice Chancellor (Business), sit on the GRLI Board.
GOLDEN for Sustainability
GOLDEN for Sustainability aims is to build a global network of research centres committed to cooperate and coordinate their work to study how business firms change, and learn to change, to integrate and manage principles of sustainability, responsibility and accountability in their business models. We are one of the initial centres to participate in this global initiative. Professor McIntosh, director of APCSE, also provides scientific guidance as a member of GOLDEN’s Council.
Institute for Ethics, Governance and Law
The Institute for Ethics, Governance and Law (IEGL) is a joint initiative of the United Nations University, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology and Australian National University. IEGL delivers research, teaching, consultancy and capacity building in the areas of institutional and community governance. APCSE, in partnership with IEGL and the Key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance, provide doctoral scholarship opportunities to encourage research that focuses on the interface between business, sustainability and global governance.
National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility
NCCARF leads the Australian research community in a national interdisciplinary effort to generate the information needed by decision-makers in government and in vulnerable sectors and communities to manage the risks of climate change impacts. Professor Palutikof, director of NCCARF, sits on the APCSE advisory board.
Principles for Responsible Management Education
PRME provides a guiding framework for academic institutions to embed corporate responsibility and sustainability into their curricula, research, teaching methodologies and institutional strategies. Griffith Business School is a signatory to PRME, and in doing so, has made a commitment to engage in a continuous process of improvement with regards to the application of the principles, to report annually and to contribute to the learning experience of the academic institutions participating worldwide. Professor McIntosh, director of APCSE, was a member of a task force that established the PRME.
The Aspen Institute Center for Business Education
The Aspen Institute Center for Business Education encourages future business leaders to innovate at the intersection of corporate profits and social impacts. The Centre administers Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey and alternative ranking of business schools that spotlights innovative MBA programs which are integrating issues of social and environmental stewardship into curricula and research. In the latest survey (2011-2012), the Griffith Business School MBA program ranked 26th globally and was the top Australian program. We help support Griffith Business School's outstanding ranking through our leading-edge teaching, research and engagement activities in sustainable enterprise.
United Nations Association of Australia (Queensland)
The Queensland division of the United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) engages with the business sector to promote UN-related goals and global citizenship responsibilities. We have partnered with UNAA (QLD) in hosting a number of events including, the corporate and governance stream of the Australia Pacific Earth Charter +10 Festival and a lecture with Professor Ramesh Thakur on global security governance. Susan Forbes, vice president of UNAA (QLD), is also an adjunct research fellow at APCSE.
United Nations Global Compact
The UN Global Compact is the world's largest voluntary corporate and sustainability initiative. It seeks to align business operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. In 2010, Griffith University became a signatory to the UN Global Compact. We play a key role in promoting and coordinating Griffith's commitment to implementing its principles. Professor McIntosh, director of APCSE, is a former special advisor to the UN Global Compact.
United Nations Global Compact Network Australia
UN Global Compact Network Australia provides a national platform that joins in with the many other UN Global Compact Local Networks from around the world to promote dialogue, learning and influence in integrating and operationalising the principles of the UN Global Compact. Professor McIntosh, director of APCSE, is deputy chair of the UN Global Compact Network Australia Steering Group.
