Global values and institutions

Research

Having concentrated on reconceiving liberal democratic governance values during the first six years of the Key Centre's life, it is intended to start to ask what institutions might be needed to realise those values. The program has involved a series of seven workshops with major international centres, each of which examines a liberal-democratic or social-democratic value, the challenges posed by globalisation and the way it might be reconceived in a globalising world. This program has been extended to incorporate dialogues on governance values between different cultures. New subprograms will be developed on refugee flows and on 'human development values and the institutional means of realising those values'.
