Art and Social History Exhibition

Exhibition-BrochureQueensland College of Art will host a small exhibition of artwork and social history memorabilia to accompany the lecture and launch of the scholarship program.  The exhibition will feature items from Mr Fitzgerald’s personal collection as well as artworks, original court drawings, t-shirts, cartoons and ephemera connected to the Fitzgerald Inquiry provided by colleagues, current and former staff and students of the University. 

Sean LeahyThe exhibition will also include personal statements from artists and journalists working at the time as well as the Griffith University response from key academics following the Inquiry.  There are also extended labels drawn from interviews with the original creators of the artworks.  These labels reveal the artists' inspiration for the piece and their experiences in the Fitzgerald era.  To view the personal statements, recollections and extended labels please click on the Griffith Recollections link below.

Support for the exhibition has been provided through the Queensland Government Department of Justice and Attorney General (Legal Practitioner Interest on Trust Account Fund).  The exhibition is made possible by the efforts of our dedicated volunteer curatorial team: Jenny Wilson, Professor Paul Cleveland, Simon Wright, Joanna Besley, Zenovia Pappas and Professor Anna Haebich (adviser).

The exhibition will take place at the QCA College Gallery on Tribune St, South Bank and will run from 29 July to 9 August.
