Scholarships


people-200x300The Griffith Islamic Research Unit  provides research higher degree scholarships to domestic students to support academic study in any area of the Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences on topics relevant to the research areas listed below:
  • Islamic and Muslim issues, based on and incorporating arts, humanities, social science, and theory method and research.
  • Inter-community relations, including integration and identity, values and multiculturalism post 9/11, media representations and public perceptions.
  • Political-economy and international relations, including Australia's relations with the Muslim world, Australian foreign policy, finance and investment.
  • Thought and methodology, including pedagogy and education, contextualisation, maqasid.
  • Modernity, including state and democracy, law, gender issues, human rights and environmental responsibility.
  • Islamic civilization, including Islamic science and the European Renaissance.

In order to reflect the immensely deep and diverse scholarly achievements of Islam, and its contributions to modern society, the Griffith Islamic Research Unit has given the following names to the scholarships:

  • Title of your topic and why it is important
  • Background to your research
  • Key research questions
  • Brief literature review
  • Methodology for your research
  • Timeline and chapter outline

PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer scholarships to international students.  If you apply, you need to be self-funded.  The fees are currently $16,000 per year.
