Conservatorium GUESTS courses

The conservatorium building at south bank campus

The Queensland Conservatorium offers GUESTS (Griffith University Early Start to Tertiary Study) courses which gives selected students the opportunity to study a Music course at the Conservatorium while they are still in Year 12.

There are a limited number of places available in the GUESTS program for students wishing to undertake a Music course at the Queensland Conservatorium and quotas are outlined in the course lists below. GUESTS students can choose courses from the following Conservatorium programs:

  • Bachelor of Music (South Bank)
  • Bachelor of Music Technology (South Bank)
  • Bachelor of Popular Music (Gold Coast)

You will receive full credit for satisfactorily completed courses if you are later admitted to a Conservatorium degree program. There is no guaranteed admission to Conservatorium undergraduate programs for students who have participated in the GUESTS program. Normal audition and selection processes will apply.

Course availability

Students who participate in the GUESTS program normally study 10 credit points of approved first year courses in Semester 1 of their Year 12. With permission, students who successfully complete a first semester course may be permitted to proceed to an approved second semester course worth 10 credit points. This means attending two to four hours of lectures and tutorials each week and doing up to six hours of private study.

An appropriate selection of 10 credit points of courses from the options below (based on assessment of the student's abilities and needs and approved by the Conservatorium) is available to students enrolled in the GUESTS program. Students wishing to apply to undertake a Music course under the GUESTS program must submit the GUESTS application form by the required closing date.
