- Advanced Diploma graduates from the partnership Institutes receive:
- a minimum admission rank of 93 (OP 5 or UAI 92.65).
Students wanting to apply
All students need to apply through Queensland Tertiary Admission Centre unless they have been given an offer for a TAFE program through QTAC which is part of a dual offer with Griffith.
Dual offers
A dual offer is an offer that provides a place in both the TAFE program and in Griffith's program upon successful completion of the TAFE award.
TAFE students and guaranteed a places at Griffith
When the student receives an offer from TAFE where the TAFE program is part of a dual offer with a Griffith program - dual offers are listed in the QTAC Guide, the website and Queensland TAFE brochure. The student will be contacted by Griffith University's Credit Transfer and Articulations Office and invited to lodge a direct application form. Students who wish to enquire if they are eligible for a direct offer can confirm this by emailing the Credit Transfer and Articulation Office.
Students who have returned their direct application form will have been sent a letter confirming that an undergraduate offer will be forwarded after the University has confirmed with the TAFE Institute that the student will be completing the Diploma.

TAFE students wanting to change bachelor degree preference
The student will have the opportunity to nominate a preferred option at the time the University sends a direct application (three preferences can be listed). A different bachelor degree may be offered* or the student will be advised to apply through QTAC if necessary.
[*] Students will need to meet program prerequisites and competitive admission rank and can only be admitted to 'like' degrees e.g. Business to International Business.
TAFE students and deferring their direct offer place
Normally, the student would accept their offer and complete a Leave of Absence form with Griffith University.
TAFE qualifications and credit towards Griffith
The student should be directed to the Griffith Credit Precedent and Articulation database and are advised to click on "Transfer from TAFE" to see if a pathway is listed. Alternatively, you can email the Credit Transfer and Articulation Office and supply the title and code of TAFE program and Griffith degree to which credit will be transferred.
Certificate III or IV and admission ranks
Credit is not transferred automatically from TAFE to Griffith - see the Credit Transfer and Articulation website for further details.
Certificate IV in Adult Tertiary Preparation
The Certificate IV in Adult Tertiary Preparation (ATP) delivered by TAFE or various private providers is designed to provide a mode of access to tertiary institutions for adult learners, independent of the senior secondary school system - usually 1 year full-time and can also be completed on a part-time basis.

Applying for credit
Students should lodge a credit transfer application form as soon as they receive a Griffith offer. Students must attach a TAFE academic record which should include all units of competency completed. Students are guaranteed an outcome from a credit application by the beginning of week one but in most cases credit will be available on their Griffith record within 14 days of lodging their credit application.
Credit enquires may be made at any time via email. Whilst the University may check with the TAFE that a student in a dual offer has completed their program, TAFE students are responsible for lodging their TAFE academic transcripts with Griffith for their request for credit transfer. Usually, the TAFE student will not have finished their program at time of offer.
Therefore, credit cannot be added to a student's record at that time. In instances where admission and credit can be actioned at the same time (i.e. complete TAFE Diploma and transcripts are available) this is done and student notified via the Griffith University student email account.
Unspecified credit is only awarded where the program structure lists free-choice elective courses. Unspecified credit cannot be used for specified courses in the program. If you do not receive credit for a TAFE module, enquiries should be directed to the Credit Transfer and Articulation Office.
Direct offers
The University gives direct offers to TAFE students for mid-year entry to Griffith. Direct entry is available to eligible students for Griffith programs which offer mid-year entry (see the Programs and courses website for details).
