Griffith University accepts applications from school leavers and recent school leavers from Queensland as well as from interstate and overseas. This site provides information on how school leaver applicants are assessed for admission to Griffith University.
Interstate school leaver applicants
The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), formerly the ITI is the admission rank used in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia. Griffith University uses a variety of schedules to determine admissions ranks.
The ATAR schedule shows how interstate Year 12 results are converted into ranks, and is a guide for interstate applicants based on 2009 data. The schedule for 2010 results will be developed when the high school grades are released.
If you have completed senior secondary studies interstate, please refer to the 2009 Year 12 results conversion table to gain an idea of how the ATAR relates to Queensland's OPs and QTAC selection ranks that are published in our brochures.
New Zealand school leaver applicants
Griffith University welcomes applications from students who have completed secondary studies in New Zealand .
Information for students who have completed the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (Level 3) and intend to apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre for a place is provided on the QTAC website.
Overseas education
If you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or you hold permanent residency status in Australia , and you have completed secondary or tertiary studies overseas at a comparable level to Australian standards you will be assessed for admission and allocated an equivalent admission rank.
If your overseas education was conducted in a language other than English you must also demonstrate that you have a satisfactory command of the English language to enable you to pursue the program of study to which admission is sought. English language test results or other relevant documentation must be submitted with your application.
English Language Proficiency applies if you are an international applicant or you are a domestic applicant but your previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for entry to undergraduate programs are listed in the Undergraduate Admission Policy (English Language Proficiency Requirements). There are also some exceptions for education undertaken in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany and the Netherlands. These are listed in Schedule A of the Admission policy for undergraduate programs (English Language Proficiency requirements).
