How to apply
Students who are admitted back into Griffith University can apply for a credit transfer by lodging a credit transfer application form.
As a student who has undertaken previous studies at Griffith, you will not be required to provide transcripts or course outlines when completing the application form. Griffith will already have access to this information.
The amount of credit you may receive will depend on the amount and type of study you have completed.

Credit transfer policy allows for up to two-thirds credit towards a bachelors degree depending on the nature of the previous study, however, notwithstanding the amount of credit awarded, a student is required to complete a minimum amount of study at Griffith University. Refer to the credit transfer policy for details.
Griffith students may enquire regarding their credit entitlement by contacting a Client Administration Officer.
Credit awarded
Once your application has been processed you will be able to view a Transfer Credit Report or your Unofficial Transcript on the Griffith Portal.
Credit may be awarded as advanced standing, unspecified credit, specified credit or provisional credit. Refer to the credit transfer policy for descriptions of these terms.
Students who have completed a Continuing Education Certificate program
If you have completed a Griffith University Continuing Education Certificate program, you do not have to lodge a credit transfer application. You should email credit@griffith.edu.au to request a credit entitlement be transferred into your degree program.
Students who are transferring from one Griffith degree to another
Undergraduate students who apply through Griffith University to for an internal transfer from one program to another are not normally required to lodge a credit transfer application. Your credit transfer entitlement will be automatically processed and noted on your academic record. However, you may be contacted and asked to provide more information, including a credit transfer application.
Undergraduate students who apply an internal transfer will have their application processed by either of the following procedures.
When moving between unrelated programs (i.e. different content in first year of the programs), the student is transferred and commences a new program. In this instance the student is considered a commencing student.
- A credit noting is placed on a transferred student's unofficial academic transcript and can be viewed in the Griffith Portal.
When moving between related programs (i.e. significant similar content in first year or if moving from a combined degree to a related single degree), the student is program changed and continues in the new program. In this instance, the student is considered a continuing student.
- A program noting is placed on a program changed student's unofficial academic transcript and can be viewed by the Griffith Portal. This will contain words to the effect that All old program studies that meet new program degree requirements will be applied.
- Students may seek assistance on incompatible courses and transfer of credit for these programs by viewing the relevant entry in the Credit Precedent Database or by contacting a credit advisor.
In either case, students who are unable to view their award of credit by the commencement of week 1 should email credit@griffith.edu.au.
