Sustainable College Living
Climate change is the biggest environmental problem facing the world today. With carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from the average Queenslander among the highest in the world so any change to the way in which we consume will be an improvement.

The Campus Carbon Challenge provided an opportunity for College students to be part of the solution. The 10-week Challenge focussed on reductions in waste, electricity and water usage. The Colleges reduced their carbon emissions by approximately 80,000 kg is the equivalent of a car trip from Brisbane to Newcastle per person. Thank you to all students involved, however congratulations to Mt Gravatt College for winning the challenge and being awarded 20 new bicycles.
As a result of the Campus Carbon Challenge, Griffith University Campus Life won an award for the Best Student Development Program (category 4-6) in the ACUMA Incorporated Awards for Excellence in Campus Service. Griffith University Campus Life was highly recommended in the Green Gown Awards Australasia in the Student Initiatives and Campaigns category.
